The Park Vista Cobras will visit the Palm Beach Gardens Gators for the second time this season on Friday night. This time it will be in a Class 8A regional quarterfinal between both schools. They met during the second week of the season as the Cobras were victorious 28-19.
Park Vista(8-2) lost their road opener to Colerain in Cincinnati and then beat Palm Beach Gardens which began a seven-game win streak. Their winning streak ended two weeks ago as they were defeated in a road game by Palm Beach Central 40-13 for the District 10-8A title.
The Cobras have Qwad Martin as quarterback and he can run the ball along with throwing passes to his receivers. They have many options to use at running back with Emmanuel Smith, Jametrius Bentley, Chauncey Mason and Dalton Barkman as they will run out of the backfield on sweep plays and screen passes. Wide receivers Renard Cheren, Marques Gayot, Anthony Milanese and Ellison Young are expected to catch receptions from Martin.
Palm Beach Gardens(6-4) captured the District 9-8A championship as they had a 3-0 record in their district. It is not a good sign when you go 1-4 during the regular season against teams that made the FHSAA playoffs this year from outside of your district. They did have a four-game winning streak in the middle of the season.
Quarterback J.P. Caruso will dictate the pace for the Gators as running back Tommy Monday will get the bulk of the carries for the team. Wide receiver Andrew Prince will be the primary target for Caruso to throw the ball to. Running back A.J. Shipman could also get a few rushing attempts for them.
