In a Class 5A regional final, the Hardee Wildcats travel down to Plantation and face the American Heritage Patriots at Heritage Field on Friday night. Both teams had similar 2013 season as they lost one of their first games before stringing out a long winning streak prior to this matchup.
American Heritage(11-1) lost to local and national powerhouse Miami Central during the first week then rolled over tough competition with 11 straight victories over the last three months. The Patriots have scored 48 or more points in five of their last six games. They defeated Lely 51-13 in the regional quarterfinal and Immokalee in the regional semifinal 49-34.
The Patriots are very balanced in their offensive attack. Running back Sony Michel is expected to get the majority of handoffs and quarterback Torrance Gibson can run plays out of the option. Wide receivers Isaiah McKenzie and Brandon Johnson can receive the ball anywhere on the field from Gibson.
Hardee(11-1) enters this game on a ten-game win streak after they fell to longtime state contender Fort Meade. The Wildcats have not given up more than 20 points in a game this season. They played two home playoff games and were victorious over Dunbar 37-20 in the regional quarterfinal along with a 20-7 win in the regional semifinal against Booker.
The Wildcats will constantly run the ball while on offense. All three members of the backfield can be dangerous when they carry the ball. Quarterback Keyonte Holley will call the signals and give the football off to running backs James Greene and Keyone Brown.
