Carol City At Miami Northwestern Preview

It is a high school football game that everyone in Dade County has been waiting for 11 months. The Carol City Chiefs challenge the Miami Northwestern Bulls at Traz Powell Stadium in a District 16-6A contest on Thursday night. Both teams are in contention for Region 4 wild card spots in the new playoff point Class 6A standings.
The Bulls won their battle against the Chiefs during the regular season last year and replaced Miami Central as district champions. The Chiefs gained revenge as they topped the Bulls in a regional semifinal and eventually became FHSAA Class 6A state champions.
Carol City(4-1, 2-0) currently stands at first place in District 16 and have outscored their first five opponents 220-6 this season. They lost their home opener to Class 8A state semifinalist Deerfield Beach. The Chiefs have rolled off four consecutive shutout victories over Dr, Krop, Hialeah-Miami Lakes, Norland and defending Class 8A champion Southridge.
The Chiefs have an explosive backfield with running backs Camron Davis and Nay'quan Wright. Quarterback Marlon Smith will call the signals for Carol City on offense.
Miami Northwestern(4-1, 1-0) is in a tie for second place with Miami Central in the competitive district. The Bulls picked up wins in their first three games against American, Columbus and Booker T. Washington. They hosted independent powerhouse IMG Academy and lost 21-0. The Bulls rebounded last week with a 47-0 shutout victory over Hialeah-Miami Lakes. They have outscored opponents 125-35 this year.
Chatarius Atwell Jr. leads the Miami Northwestern offense as quarterback and he will look for wide receivers Derrick Davis and Justin Hill. Running back Corey Hammett is expected to get the bulk of the carries for the Bulls from the backfield.
