The Glades Central Raiders got by the American Heritage Stallions 21-7 at The Corral in Delray Beach on Friday night. The Raiders snapped a five-game losing streak to the Stallions and last beat them in 2011.
Glades Central(5-2) moved ahead at 7:58 of the first quarter. Wide receiver Jymetre Hester caught a 47-yard touchdown pass in the middle of the field from quarterback Davious Richards. The Raiders made it 8-0 as they faked the kick for the extra point and scored on a two-point conversion run by wide receiver/holder Dejuan Miller.
The Raiders mounted a drive in the third quarter as Miller made a 61-yard catch to the Stallions 18-yard line. Later in the possession, Richards threw an eight-yard pass to Miller on the right side for a score at the 6:36 mark in the third and a Glades Central 15-0 margin.
American Heritage(4-4) finally scored with 3:47 left in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Ryan Rizk connected a seven-yard pass to wide receiver Micangelo Joseph and cut the lead to 15-7.
The Stallions got the ball back on a punt with two minutes to go and they attempted to tie the game on their next drive. It went down to the last play of the game when Raiders defensive back E.J. Jackson intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.
