The Park Vista Cobras destroyed the Lake Worth Trojans 70-0 on Monday night at GL Homes Stadium in a District 10-8A contest. The game was rescheduled from September 15 due to Hurricane Irma.
Park Vista(3-2, 2-1) compiled 28 points in the first quarter. They scored on their first possession as quarterback John Smith raced up the middle for a five-yard touchdown at 8:08. Lake Worth(0-4, 0-3) quarterback Jean-Stephens Mendes threw an interception on their next drive and Cobras safety Frantz Derival returned it 37 yards for a score at the 6:30.
The Trojans had a punt blocked at the goal line by Marion Johnson and Ivan Johnson recovered it in the end zone for a 21-0 lead with 6:09 left in the first. Running back Camron Mann rushed through the middle for a touchdown run from three yards away with 25 seconds to go in the quarter.
The Cobras started to bring in their reserves on offense in the second quarter and they still continued their scoring pace. Running back Nick King outraced the defense and was able to score a 44-yard touchdown run at 10:20.
Backup quarterback Tyler Thomas plunged in from one yard out with 7:38 remaining in the first half. Park Vista recovered a fumble on a bad snap and Thomas scored on the first play of the drive with a one-yard run with 5:19 left in the second for a 49-0 margin.
