The Florida Panthers finished another short two-game road trip with a 3-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Tuesday night. The Panthers, who have four of their last five games, return to Sunrise and begin a five-game home stand on Thursday. The Canadiens entered the contest with the worst record in the Eastern Conference.
It was until the start of the second period when Florida(3-5-0) scored to go ahead 1-0. Keith Yandle scored from the high slot 20 seconds into the frame for his first goal of the year on assists from Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov.
Montreal(2-6-1) compiled three unanswered tallies in the final five minutes of the period. The Habs got power-play goals by Alex Galcheyuk with 3:16 to go and Shea Weber with 1:58 remaining.
The Canadiens, who were winless in their last seven contests prior to this game, added two more goals midway through the third period. Weber picked up his second goal of the goal at the 9:11 mark. Max Pacioretty also scored for Montreal at 11:06 for his second goal of the season.
