The Miami Dolphins released cornerback Byron Maxwell from the team on Tuesday. He had been part of the Dolphins squad for the past two seasons. He started 13 games with Miami in 2016 as he compiled two interceptions and 53 tackles.
Maxwell was acquired by the Fins from the Philadelphia Eagles in March 2016 along with linebacker Kiko Alonso and the Eagles 2016 first-round draft pick for the Dolphins 2016 first-round draft pick. The Eagles later traded the Dolphins pick along with other selections to the Cleveland Browns for the second overall pick in the draft, which turned out to be quarterback Carson Wentz.
Prior to his stints in Philadelphia and Miami, Maxwell was with the Seattle Seahawks for four years. He helped them win Super Bowl 48 over the Denver Broncos in February 2014 and capture two NFC Championships in 2013 and 2014.
