Heat Lose Season Opener To Magic

     The Miami Heat began their 30th season in the National Basketball Association and lost their season opener to the Orlando Magic 116-109 at Amway Center on Wednesday night. It was the first defeat in a season opener for the Heat since 2010 and the first season opening victory for the Magic since 2012.
     Miami(0-1) rolled out to a 37-32 lead after one quarter. Orlando(1-0) bounced back in the second and were ahead 58-55 at halftime. The Magic extended their margin, which included a 16-7 spurt during the frame, to 88-78 after three quarters.
     Hassan Whiteside led the Heat with a monster double-double with 26 points and 22 rebounds. Goran Dragic added 17 points and Dion Waiters popped in 15 points.
     Evan Fournier was the leading scorer for Orlando with 23 points. Nikola Vucevic compiled a double-double of 19 points along with 13 rebounds.
