Hurricanes Survive Syracuse

     The Miami Hurricanes held on to defeat the Syracuse Orange 27-19 at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday. The Canes remain undefeated with the victory.
     The Hurricanes were in the red zone and were unable to get into the end zone. They had to settle for an 18-yard field goal by Michael Badgley.
     In the second quarter, Miami(6-0, 4-0) scored their first touchdown at 14:28. Quarterback Malik Rosier connected a 10-yard strike to tight end Christopher Herndon for a 10-0 lead. Badgley added a 39-yard field goal less than four minutes later.
     Syracuse(4-4, 2-2) began to chip away at the lead. Cole Murphy kicked a 22-yard field goal with 6:23 left in the first half and booted a 40-yard field goal with 9:00 to go in the third quarter.
     The Hurricanes expected the gap to 20-6 with three minutes left in the third quarter. Wide receiver Jeff Thomas caught a 48-yard touchdown pass on the left hash marks from Rosier.
     The Orange hit the scoreboard with 1:15 remaining in the third. Running back Moe Neal carried the ball in from 15 yards away. Murphy compiled field goals from 45 yards and 53 yards out during the first portion of the fourth quarter and they were down 20-19 midway into the frame.
     Hurricanes running back Travis Homer, an Oxbridge Academy grad, put the contest away at the 2:54 mark of the fourth. He found the hole in the middle of the line and raced down 33 yards for the touchdown.
