Former South Florida Sun-Sentinel sports writer Steve Gorten has joined the Columbus Dispatch as their new Columbus Blue Jackets beat writer. He will share duties with former Florida Panthers beat writer George Richards who is leaving the Miami Herald this week.
Gorten joined the Sun-Sentinel in 2002 as a high school reporter. He replaced Michael Russo as the Panthers writer in September 2005. He was elevated to cover the University of Miami Hurricanes athletic program at the start of this decade. He left that newspaper in 2015 when that organization made job cuts.
