The Florida High School Athletic Association decided on Tuesday to change the game schedule of several championship title games during the second week of December. All eight championship games will be played in a three-day stretch like they were last year at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
The major changes have the Class 7A title game moving from Friday night on December 8 to Saturday afternoon on December 9. The Class 6A title game gets switched from the Saturday afternoon game to the Friday night game.
The first day of title games will remain the same as last year. December 7 will have the Class 1A contest played Thursday afternoon and the Class 4A tilt on Thursday night. The second date which is on Friday will get the Class 2A match in the late morning, the Class 5A game in the afternoon and Class 6A game at night. The final contests that are on a Saturday has the Class 3A game in the late morning, the Class 7A game in the afternoon slot and the Class 8A game at night.
The FHSAA football finals were scheduled differently from 2011 to 2015. The small schools from Class 1A to Class 4A played on the first weekend while the large schools played on the following weekend. Class 5A was on Friday afternoon and Class 7A was on Friday night while Class 6A was on Saturday afternoon and Class 8A on Saturday night.
In the time period from 2006 to 2010, the large schools were classified from Class 6A to Class 3A and participated in championship games the next week after the small school classification title games from Class 2A to Class 1B. Class 3A was held on Friday afternoon and Class 5A on Friday night while Class 4A went on Saturday afternoon and Class 6A on Saturday night.
