The Miami Marlins fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 10-2 at Miller Park on Friday night. The Fish extended their losing streak to six games and have lost 16 of their last 18 games.
The Marlins began a three-game series in which they are designated as the home team. They had to play the three games away from Miami due to the impact of Hurricane Irma in South Florida earlier this week.
Miami(68-79) moved out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Justin Bour knocked in J.T. Realmuto with a base hit to go in front.
Milwaukee(78-69) answered back when Stephen Vogt cracked a two-run homer to tie the contest at 2-2.
The Brewers piled on eight runs in the top of the eighth and extended their margin to 10-2. It tied a season-high with most runs in an inning for Milwaukee which they got in Chicago against the Cubs on Saturday.
Eric Thames started the big rally with a solo home run on the first pitch. Neil Walker smashed a grand-slam home run to right-center field on a 2-1 pitch. Domingo Santana later added a three-run homer on a 1-2 count to left-center field.
