The Oxbridge Academy Thunderwolves pounded the Glades Central Raiders 31-0 on Thursday night at William H. Pitt Stadium. Both small schools are looking to qualify for the FHSAA playoffs with the new point system format.
The Raiders first play from scrimmage was a throw by quarterback Jaeze Tracey intercepted by Thunderwolves defensive back Antavious Lane. Oxbridge Academy(3-1) was able to score on their first possession as quarterback Gio Richardson rushed in from one yard out to make it 7-0 at the 10:02 mark.
The Thunderwolves reached the end zone again at 4:08 in the first quarter. Richardson raced down the field on an option run for a 20-yard touchdown. Running back James Meeks busted through for a score from 15 yards away with 2:34 left in the first quarter and Oxbridge led by 19 points.
The second half remained the same as Glades Central(2-2) surrendered a score late in the third quarter with 1:13 to go. Running back Luis Gonzalez dashed in with a five-yard touchdown run. Richardson later found wide receiver V'Lique Carter on the left side of the end zone for an 18-yard touchdown strike at 11:05 of the fourth and a 31-0 margin.
