There was a new top sports format radio station in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale region. Miami Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM stopped the consecutive five-month run of Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAX'Y-AM as the leader in the market.
WQAM bumped up from a 0.8 to a 1.1 in August. The build up for the Miami Dolphins preseason and the anticipation of the University of Miami Hurricanes football regular season did help.
The Ticket stayed the same with a 0.9 in the period. A big change happened in that organization when Curtis Stevenson replaced the departed Ethan Skolnick as the permanent afternoon co-host with Chris Perkins..
Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM remained flat with a 0.2 during the month. Giancarlo Stanton set a record pace for home runs in the month of the August as the Miami Marlins had a stretch of winning 13 of 16 games.
