The Deerfield Beach Bucks challenge the Blanche Ely Tigers in the annual McDougle Bowl at Pompano Beach has been postponed due to Hurricane Irma. The Bucks easily beat the Tigers 30-3 last season in the battle of northeast Broward County supremacy.
Deerfield Beach(1-1) began the regular season facing two powerhouses. They went to Miami and upset the defending FHSAA Class 6A state champion Carol City 6-2 and then visited New Jersey where they lost to St. John Regional 44-21. It will be the third straight game that the school will play on the road.
The Bucks have a strong backfield with running backs Jakari Norwood and Jaylan Knighton. They have two capable quarterbacks in Kyle Kaplan and Tyron Herring. Look for wide receiver Cornelius McCoy to make some receptions.
Blanche Ely(0-2) has surrendered a combined 63 points in their first two regular season games. They loss to Stranahan 30-13 in their opening game on the road and then were shut out in Plantation 33-0 last week.
The Tigers are led on offense by quarterback Yanez Rogers. He has the tools to run and throw the ball to any part of the field.
