The St. Andrew's Scots handled the Inlet Hurricanes 35-16 at Don Jones Memorial Field on Saturday. The Scots are undefeated after three games for the first time in more than 15 years.
St. Andrew's(3-0) scored on their first possession early in the first quarter at 10:26. Quarterback Wyatt Ruth threw the ball to the right side and wide receiver Jason Otis caught a four-yard touchdown pass. Otis would later make an interception and returned it 33 yards for a score with 5:57 left in the first.
In the second quarter, the Scots added to their margin. Ruth connected with Otis on a 70-yard touchdown pass up the middle at the 7:52 mark to make it 20-0. Wide receiver Michael Carbone added to the lead as he caught a six-yard pass from Ruth on the right side of the end zone from Ruth with 3:55 left in the first half.
Inlet Grove(0-3) reached the end zone with 2:48 to go. Quarterback Frank Huggins threw a short screen pass to Keron Hines-Ward. He brought it through the secondary and scored from 62 yards out. Huggins busted across the line for a two-point conversion and closed the gap 27-8.
Ruth compiled his fourth touchdown pass of the contest, which was for 14 yards, for St. Andrew's with 2.4 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Otis received the ball at the six-yard line, broke through three tacklers and reached over the goal line with the ball for the touchdown.
