Chaminade-Madonna At Piper Preview

The Piper Bengals host the Chaminade-Madonna Lions on Thursday night in Sunrise. Both schools qualified for the FHSAA playoffs last year.
Chaminade-Madonna(1-2) will play their fourth straight game on the road to begin the season. Two home games in September had to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Irma. They fell to Miami Central 48-24, edged Miramar 14-13 and lost to American Heritage 41-13 in Plantation last week.
The person to be aware of first on the Lions offense is running back Shaun Shivers who can break through for a touchdown from any distance of the field. Wide receivers Xavier Williams, Marlin Mayo and Marvin Alexander look to make receptions from quarterback Quinn Dempsey.
Piper(0-2) has been held scoreless in their first two games of the season and have not played a game since September 1. They were blanked by Norland 43-0 and blasted by St. Thomas Aquinas 40-0. The lull of scoring production goes back to the three-way kickoff classic against American Heritage and Palm Beach Gardens where they only reached the end zone on the final play of the preseason.
The Bengals have quarterback Derohn King to call the signals. He looks to connect passes with wide receivers Nathaniel Stubbs, Zachary Sewell, Jalind Williams and Brandon Joseph. Running backs Jacari Ponder and Jamarquez Thomas can get their share of carries.
