Two former South Florida high school players were traded for each other in the NFL on Saturday. The New England Patriots dealt quarterback Jacoby Brissett to the Indianapolis Colts for wide receiver Phillip Dorsett.
Brissett was the starting quarterback of the Dwyer Panthers when they captured their first FHSAA state championship in school history back in 2009. He made stops in college at the University of Florida and North Carolina State. Brissett was picked by the Patriots in the 2016 NFL Draft and was on the team when they won Super Bowl 51 in February.
Dorsett was a wide receiver and special teams returner for St. Thomas Aquinas. He helped the Raiders win several FHSAA state championships with the school in 2008 and 2010. Dorsett played college football with the University of Miami Hurricanes from 2011 until 2014. He was drafted by the Colts in 2015.
