The Miami Marlins fell to the Washington Nationals 2-1 on Tuesday night at Marlins Park. The Fish have fallen in eight of their nine games and are 17 games behind the Nats for first place in the National League East. Miami(67-71) did not advance a runner past second base until the ninth inning.
In the second inning, the Nationals pulled ahead 1-0. Pedro Severino drove in Adam Lind with a base hit into right field.
Washington(84-54) added to their lead in the eighth inning. Daniel Murphy lifted a solo homer to right field for his 22nd home run of the season.
Miami broke the shutout during the bottom of the ninth. Tyler Moore knocked in Marcell Ozuna with a sacrifice fly into right field.
