It is a rematch between the top two teams from District 10 in Class 8A last year as the Park Vista Cobras challenge the Atlantic Eagles in Delray Beach on Friday night. The Cobras beat the Eagles last season to capture the district title.
A major storyline in this game is running back Corey Cola, Jr. He transferred from Park Vista to Atlantic during the summer. The last time there was a transfer of a Park Vista player with major impact to another school rival was by quarterback Eddie Sullivan to Boca Raton after the 2007 season.
Park Vista(1-1) began the season with two close contests. They lost their home opener to Dwyer 22-15 in overtime then went to West Boca Raton and won 27-21. The Cobras have John Smith to call the plays on offense as quarterback and have two-way standout player Atorian Perry who will be at wide receiver and defensive back.
Atlantic(1-1) play their home opener following two games on the road to start the season. They were edged by Palm Beach Central 14-13 and defeated Dwyer 21-12.
The Eagles have Antoine Williams II as quarterback and he looks to connect passes with wide receivers Corey Gammage, Cadarius Gaskin, Varrick Lurry-Davis, Javone Jackson, Kamereon Williams and Aydin Henningham. They are loaded in the backfield with running backs Shelley Singletary and Cola.
