Panthers Split Doubleheader Against Predators

     The Florida Panthers were involved in their annual preseason doubleheader contests against the Nashville Predators. This year it was held at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The Panthers have faced the Predators in a preseason doubleheader every year since September 2011. The exception was 2012 due to the NHL lockout.
     Florida was able to win the first game 5-3 over the Predators. Connor Brickley had two goals in the initial contest for the Panthers and Denis Malgin scored into an empty net with 29 seconds remaining in the third period.
     Mike Matheson, Jonathan Ang and Malgin settled for two points while the Panthers 2017 first-round draft pick Owen Tippett had one assist. Nashville was led by P.K. Subban who had two assists and Viktor Arvidsson compiled one goal along with one assist.
     The Panthers lost the second game to the Preds 3-2 in overtime. Vincent Trocheck scored an unassisted power-play goal in the first period for a 1-0 lead. Jared McCann tied the contest 2-2 midway through the third period on an unassisted power-play goal. Nashville was victorious in overtime on a goal by Miikka Salomaki.
