Sports Stations On Hurricane Irma

All six South Florida English-language sports talk format radio stations kept the public informed as they continuously broadcast the whereabouts and impact of Hurricane Irma for the past week. The six local stations piped in a simulcast of a local television station during the storm.
Miami Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM had a simulcast of WFOR-TV Channel 4. They were the first South Florida sports station in the region that returned to their regular format. Afternoon co-host Marc Hochman began to host a show on Monday at 12:30 P.M. WQAM went with their entire local weekday lineup on Tuesday.
Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM beamed in a simulcast of WPLG-TV Channel 10. They were unable to broadcast a signal from their transmitter until Thursday. The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz that is syndicated on ESPN Radio was not on the air for several days. ESPN talent like Elle Duncan, David Lloyd and others filled in earlier this week.
Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM piped in a simulcast of WTVJ-TV Channel 6. They went local and did broadcast the 610 WIOD=AM morning show with Jimmy Cefalo and Manny Munoz on Wednesday. Syndicated sports talk from Fox Sports Radio then followed them. WINZ weekday sports hosts Jeff DeForest and Andy Slater did not have a local show that day.
ESPN West Palm 106.3 WUUB-FM was the main radio station in the area to broadcast WPTV-TV Channel 5. They switched back to the sports format on Monday at 2:30 P.M. when Josh Cohen, Jeremy Marks-Peltz and Mike Mreczko began to broadcast for the rest of the afternoon.
Sports Radio 1230 The Zone WBZT-AM was able to simulcast WPEC-TV Channel 12. They moved back to broadcasting the syndicated CBS Sports Radio Network on Tuesday morning.
640 The Hurricane WMEN-AM went off-the-air and stopped transmitting a signal on Sunday. They returned on Monday as they began to broadcast a Spanish-language music format and continued to do that as of Thursday.
