Phillies Bash Marlins

The Philadelphia Phillies completed a three-game series sweep over the Miami Marlins with a 10-0 shutout victory at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday night. The Marlins have fallen in five consecutive games and 15 of their last 17 games.
Miami(68-78) will head to Milwaukee and face the Brewers in a three-game series that was scheduled to be played in South Florida. The games were shifted away from Miami on Wednesday. The Marlins will be designated as the home team for all three games.
Philadelphia(57-89) did their damage in the first two innings of the contest as they put together nine runs. In the first inning, Cesar Hernandez scored on a wild pitch with Rhys Hoskins at-bat. Freddy Galvis made it 2-0 as he crossed the plate on a passed ball.
The Phillies began the seven-run rally in the bottom of the second as Jorge Alfaro belted a solo home run to left field on a 0-1 count. Three batters later, Galvis connected with a two-run homer to center on a 3-1 pitch that also scored Hernandez for a 5-0 lead.
Hoskins continued with the hot bat over the past month as he smashed a two-run homer to right field on a 0-2 count for his 18th home run of the season. Odubel Herrera scored in front of him on the play. J.P. Crawford capped the frame as he drove in Nick Williams along with Maikel Franco with a base hit into center field and the Phils held a nine-run margin.
