2022 FHSAA Playoffs Regional Final Results

     The regional finals of the 2022 FHSAA Playoffs were played in the last couple of days. There were 17 South Florida high schools that entered the regional finals and eight teams advanced to the state semifinals. 
     The Florida High School Athletic Association has come up with a new way for the state semifinals. The four teams that won their regional final games will be reseeded instead of the longtime procedure of Region 3 winner versus Region 4 winner and Region 1 winner against Region 2 winner. The South Florida tri-county region will host six state semifinals next week. 
     Class 4M in Region 3 had #1 Palm Beach Central got by #3 Palm Beach Gardens 14-10 to reach the state semifinals for the first time in school history. #1 Columbus knocked off #3 Doral Academy 31-3 in Region 4. Based on the new seeding, #1 Columbus stays home against #4 Ocoee while #2 Palm Beach Central hosts #3 Apopka. 
     Region 3 in Class 3M saw #1 St. Thomas Aquinas handled #3 Blanche Ely 35-7 and reached the state semifinal for the ninth straight season. #1 Homestead withstood #2 Miramar 33-13 in the third round. #1 St. Thomas Aquinas will host #4 Jesuit and #3 Homestead visits #2 Jones. 
     In Region 3 of Class 2M, #1 American Heritage defeated district foe #2 Cardinal Gibbons 31-20. Region 4 had #1 Miami Central break down #3 Miami Norland 34-20. Newly seeded #2 American Heritage remains at home versus #3 Bolles while #1 Miami Central hosts #4 Lakewood. 
     Class 1M in Region 3 had #1 Chaminade-Madonna victorious over #2 Cardinal Newman 49-16. #3 True North Academy outscored #4 Palmer Trinity 58-37. #1 Chaminade-Madonna will host new seeded #4 True North Academy in the state semifinal round. The other game will be #3 Clearwater Central Catholic at #2 University Christian. 
     The last South Florida tri-county high school in Class 1R was eliminated. #2 Pahokee was knocked out of the postseason for the second straight year by the same opponent as they fell to #1 Hawthorne 21-20.
