Oilers Drain Panthers

The Edmonton Oilers brought in their high-powered offense to FLA Live Arena in Sunrise on Saturday and topped the Florida Panthers 4-2. The Panthers continued their five-game homestand.
Neither team scored in the first period. Edmonton(9-7-0) broke the scoreless tie with 8:11 left in the second period. Mattias Janmark pushed the puck from the end wall. Ryan McLeod fed it from the right wing and Tyson Barrie blasted a one-time slap shot from the top of the zone past Spencer Knight for his second goal this year.
In the third period, Florida(8-6-1) evened it up 1-1 on a power-play goal at 2:42. Gustav Forsling released a shot from the blue line which was stopped by the pile in front of the crease. Sam Bennett raced in from the left side and snapped a shot from the left circle by Stuart Skinner for his fourth goal of the season. Carter Verhaeghe was credited with the second assist on the play.
The Oilers reclaimed the lead 2-1 with the man advantage at the 6:53 mark. After a left-circle faceoff draw, Barrie held up and then pounded a slap shot from the left point for his second tally of the contest and his third goal of the campaign.
It became 3-1 for Edmonton with 4:53 remaining in the third. Leon Draisaitl dropped a pass from the slot area and Warren Foegele scored on a wrist shot from the high slot for his second tally this year.
The Cats closed it to 3-2 with 4:02 left. Bennett made a pass to Colin White at the blue line and he returned the give-and-go pass. Bennett skated through the crease and buried in a backhand shot for his second goal of the game and fifth goal of the season.
Florida pulled their goalie for an extra skater with over two minutes to go. Connor McDavid would angle a pass from the neutral zone and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins put in a shot from above the left circle into an empty net for his eighth goal this season with 1:26 to go.
