Nils Lundkvist carried it around all the way to below the left circle and lifted a forehand shot for a 2-0 lead with 4:44 remaining in the first. It was Lundkvist's first tally of the season and second goal of his NHL career.
It became 3-0 for Dallas with 4:07 left in the period. Ty Dellandrea chipped the puck ahead from the blue line. Jamie Benn skated through the slot area and slid a backhand shot from the crease for his seventh goal this year.

He connected a pass to the left circle and Carter Verhaeghe riffled a snap shot by Scott Wedgewood for his 11th goal of the season.
Both teams exchanged goals around the midway point of the second period. Jason Robertson intercepted a pass at the left point and pushed the puck ahead. Hintz went in alone on net and shoved a wrist shot by Spencer Knight for his second goal of the game and eighth goal this season at the 9:04 mark for a four-goal margin.
