2022 FHSAA Playoffs Second Round Results

     The 2022 Football Playoffs continued this past weekend in the South Florida tri-county area. All classifications were involved in second-round games with 33 South Florida high schools involved. 
     Class 4M in Region 3 had #1 Palm Beach Central down #5 Marjory Stoneman Douglas 55-23. #3 Palm Beach Gardens breezed by #2 Monarch 35-28. There will be a rematch between two Palm Beach County high schools. #1 Columbus picked up their second straight shutout in the postseason as they blanked #4 Palmetto 28-0 in Region 4. #3 Doral Academy upset #2 Western 31-22 and will now travel to Columbus for the regional final. 
     St. Thomas Aquinas continued to dominate Class 3M Region 3 with a 63-14 victory over #4 Atlantic. They will host #3 Blanche Ely, who defeated #2 Dillard 19-14 for the Soul Bowl rematch in the other regional semifinal.  In Region 4, #1 Homestead knocked off #5 Dr. Krop 35-12 and #2 Miramar edged #3 Southridge 29-24. Both high schools will go us against each other in the third round. 
     In Class 2M Region 3, #1 American Heritage easily handled #4 Boynton Beach 49-0 while #2 Cardinal Gibbons survived #3 Calvary Christian Academy 43-27. The Patriots and the Chiefs, both district rivals, will face each other in a rematch going into the regional final. #1 Miami Central remained undefeated in Region 4 as they got by local rival #4 Miami Northwestern 34-30. They will host #3 Miami Norland because they surprised #2 Booker T. Washington 14-7.  
     #1 Chaminade-Madonna began their attempt to reach the championship game for the sixth straight time as they bashed #4 Avant Garde Academy 48-0 in Region 3 of Class 1M. They will host a reginal final against #2 Cardinal Newman, who got by #3 Benjamin 14-6. Region 4 had two upsets with #4 Palmer Trinity beating #1 Archbishop Carroll 27-24 and #3 True North Academy topping #2 Westminster Christian 40-21. 
     #2 Pahokee is the only South Florida high school in the region playing in Class 1R. They advanced to the regional final with a 50-28 win over #3 Chiefland and visit #1 Hawthorne next week.
