The second round of the 2025 FHSAA Playoffs happened last week. 17 South Florida teams from Palm Beach County, Broward County and Dade County advanced to the next round.
Class 7A in Region 4 had #1 Miami Palmetto defeat #5 Columbus 27-10 and #3 Goleman outscore #2 Spanish River 56-42. In Region 3, #1 Vero Beach powered by #5 Lake Nona 56-14 while #3 Fort Pierce Central was edged by #7 Dr. Phillips 22-21.
Region 4 of Class 6A resulted in #1 Southridge over #5 Piper 42-6 and #2 West Broward downing #3 Monarch 38-12. #2 West Boca Raton handled #6 East Lake 48-7 in Region 3.
#1 St. Thomas Aquinas dropped #4 Coconut Creek 45-13 in Class 5A of Region 4. #6 McArthur slipped by #2 Atlantic 17-16.
Class 4A in Region 4 had #1 Archbishop McCarthy knocking off #4 Miami Norland 24-14. #2 American Heritage smashed #6 Plantation 48-7.
Traditional Dade County powerhouses moved on in Region 4 of Class 3A. #1 Miami Northwestern routed #4 Key West 56-6 and #2 Miami Central outlasted #3 Lely 70-30.
Class 2A in Region 3 had #2 Cardinal Gibbons edge #3 Miami Killian 38-35 while #1 Immaculata-La Salle zip by #5 Ransom Everglades 42-16. In Region 3, #3 Glades Central fell to #2 Lakewood 14-7.
Class 1A in Region 4 saw #1 Chaminade-Madonna handle #4 Miami Edison 47-18 and #2 True North Academy step over #3 St. Andrew's 62-28. #2 Cardinal Newman beat #3 Community School of Naples 45-14 in Region 3.
There was only one contest involving a South Florida team in Class Rural. #5 Pahokee was able to get past #4 Taylor County 17-7.
