The #1 St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders defeated the #6 McArthur Mustangs 34-7 at Simmons Family Field in Fort Lauderdale in the FHSAA Class 5A regional final on Friday night. It was a rematch between both teams from District 15. The Raiders are two wins away from winning their state-record seventh consecutive state title and 17th overall state championship.
St. Thomas Aquinas(12-1) got out in front 3-0 with a field goal and added a touchdown for a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. McArthur(10-3) gave up another touchdown in the second quarter and trailed 17-0 at halftime.
The Mustangs cut it to 17-7 with a touchdown early in the third quarter. The Raiders matched it on a touchdown with two minutes left in the third for a 24-7 advantage. STA added another touchdown with four minutes left in the fourth quarter along with a field goal in the final seconds of the game and led 34-7.
