The Florida Panthers fell to the San Jose Shark's 3-1 at SAP Center on Saturday night. The Panthers will conclude their four-game road slate on Monday in Las Vegas.
In the first period, San Jose (7-6-3) chalked up a 1-0 lead with 2:35 left. Aaron Ekblad had the puck stolen by Will Smith in the right corner. He centered it and Macklin Celebrini released a wrist shot from the low slot for his 10th goal this season.
The Sharks made it 2-0 at the 3:06 mark of the second period. Dmitry Orlov lifted a shot from the left wing and Adam Gaudette redirected it from the crease area by Daniil Tarasov for his fourth tally of the campaign.
Florida(7-7-1) answered back 28 seconds later and cut it to 2-1. Brad Marchand got to a rebound and backhanded a shot into the cage from the top of the crease past Yaroslav Askarov for his 10th goal of the season. Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen were credited with assists on the play.
The Panthers pulled their goalie for an extra attacker with 2:45 to go in the third period. Former Panthers player Alexander Wennberg raced down the ice, picked up the loose puck in the high slot and steered it into an empty net on a backhand shot for his fourth tally of the year with 50.4 seconds remaining in the third.
