Lakers Handle Heat

      The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat 130-120 at Crypto.com Arena on Sunday night. The Heat continued their four-game road swing. 
      LeBron James did not participate in the game for the Lakers. Pat Riley will have his statue unveiled at that venue on February 22.
      The Heat have won seven of the last 11 contests against the Lakers since they both met in the 2020 NBA Finals. Miami has been victorious in 21 of the past 33 regular season meetings versus Los Angeles.   
      Los Angeles(5-2) broke out to a 43-36 lead by the conclusion of the first quarter. The Lakers held a 77-63 lead at halftime.
     Miami(3-3) scored eight straight points during the third quarter and trailed 102-98 at the end of the frame. The Heat got within three points 107-104 with 9:35 left in the fourth quarter.
      Luka Doncic had a triple-double for the Lakers with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Jaime Jaquez Jr. led Miami with a game-high 31 points along with eight rebounds. Bam Adebayo and Pelle Larsson both dropped in 17 points each.
