Lightning Stop Panthers

The Tampa Bay Lightning edged the Florida Panthers 3-1 on Saturday night at Amerant Bank Arena. It was a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Both clubs have won four of the last six Stanley Cups.
Tampa Bay(9-6-2) broke out to a 1-0 lead with 7:41 remaining in the first period. Nikita Kucherov made a square pass from the high slot and Emil Lilleberg snapped a shot from the top left circle past Sergei Bobrovsky for his second tally this year.
Florida(9-8-1) evened it up 1-1 on the power play with 8:29 to go in the second period. Anton Lundell won a faceoff in the left circle and Sam Reinhart angled a back pass. Brad Marchand scooted to the middle and backhanded a shot in from the slot area by Andrei Vasilevskiy for his 12th goal of the season.
In the third period, the Lightning reclaimed the lead 2-1 at the 4:09 mark. Jack Finley skated in on a breakaway and scored his first NHL goal on a backhand shot from the crease area.
The Cats pulled their goalie for an extra attacker with 3:06 remaining. The Bolts increased it to 3-1 with 50.3 seconds left in the third on an empty-net goal from Zemgus Girgensons.
