The Florida Panthers roared by the Nashville Predators 8-3 at Bridgestone Arena on Monday night. It was the Panthers only road contest in a 12-game stretch. The Predators have the worst record in the National Hockey League.
Florida(12-9-1) charged out to a 1-0 lead just 11 seconds into the first period. Carter Verhaeghe passed the puck from the end wall and A.J. Greer scored his fifth goal this year on a wrist shot from low right circle by Juuse Saros.
The Cats made it 2-0 at the 5:42 mark of the opening period. Evan Rodrigues collected his sixth goal of the campaign as he put in a wrist shot from the low left circle.
The Predators answered back 70 seconds later to make it 2-1. Filip Forsberg swept the puck into the cage from the left side of the crease past Daniil Tarasov for his ninth goal of the season.
Nashville(6-13-4) would tie it up 2-2 with 9:28 to go in the first. It turned to be the first tally of the year for Fedor Svechkov as he steered the puck in from the right side of the crease.
The Panthers regained the lead 59 seconds later and made it 3-2. Jesper Boqvist sprinted into the Preds zone and scored his third goal on a forehand shot from the inner left circle.
It became 4-2 for Florida with 4:14 remaining in the first frame. A clearing pass from a defender went off Sam Bennett in the crease area for his fifth goal in 2025-26.
In the second period, the Panthers increased it to 5-2 at 1:24. Gustav Forsling flicked a shot from the left point through traffic for his first goal this season. Nashville replaced Saros in goal with Justus Annunen.
The Predators closed it to 5-3 with the man advantage at the 2:11 mark of the third period. Nick Blankenburg snapped a shot from the top of the zone for his second tally of the campaign.
The Cats made it a three-goal margin again 6-3 at 4:52 of the third. Greer collected his second goal of the contest on a snap shot from the high slot.
