The FHSAA has introduced the Florida Invitational Tournament in high school football for this year. There will be three different tournaments held with 16 high schools each. The tournaments will begin on Thursday.
The largest classifications will be from Class 7A to Class 4A. There will be seven South Florida five-county teams in the Southern bracket.
The #3 Palm Beach Gardens Gators will host the #6 Centennial Eagles. The #8 Sarasota Sailors make a long trip and face the #1 Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs. It will be a Palm Beach County battle as the #4 Palm Beach Lakes Rams challenge the #5 Royal Palm Beach Wildcats. The #2 Miramar Patriots will stay at home versus the #7 Fort Pierce Westwood Panthers.
The smaller classifications will be from Class 3A to Class 1A. There are five local squads in that southern bracket.
#1 North Miami Beach will host Dunedin while #2 Hallandale is home against #7 Palm Bay. #6 Miami Springs is at #3 Booker T. Washington and #5 Inlet Grove is at #4 Oasis.
