The #1 Southridge Spartans fell to the #2 West Broward Bobcats 30-27 in a FHSAA Class 6A regional final on Friday night in Dade County. It was a clash between the two top seeds in Region 4.
Southridge(11-2) raced out to a 14-0 lead during the first quarter. West Broward(11-2) bounced back with a touchdown and a field goal during the second quarter and were down 14-10 at halftime.
The Bobcats started off strong to begin the third quarter and led 16-14. They expanded their lead to 23-14 in the fourth quarter, but the Spartans answered back and cut the deficit to 23-21. Southridge would regain the lead 27-23 on a touchdown with under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. West Broward quickly came back to take a 30-27 lead with less than a minute left in the final quarter on a touchdown.
