Inter Miami CF beat New York City FC 5-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals of the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday night. The Herons reached the MLS Cup Final for the first time in franchise history. They will host the Vancouver Whitecaps next Saturday and try to capture their first MLS Cup title.
The Herons took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Tadeo Allende was able to get the tally when he rifled an 11-yard shot with his right foot.
Inter Miami CF increased their lead to 2-0 during the 23rd minute. Allende collected his second goal of the contest as he redirected a header from 14 yards following a Jordi Alba diagonal pass.
New York City FC closed it to 2-1 in the 37th minute. They took an indirect kick from the right side and Justin Haak placed in a header from nine yards away.
In the second half, the Herons made it 3-1 in the 67th minute. Lionel Messi angled a pass and Mateo Silvetti found the back of the net on a 13-yard, right-footed shot.
It became 4-1 for Inter Miami CF in the 83rd minute. Telasco Segovia sprinted down the field with the ball and then passed ahead. Alba made a backheel pass in the penalty area and Segovia blasted a right-footed shot from 12 yards out.
Allende got the hat trick with his third goal of the game during the 89th minute as he raced in on a breakaway and scored from eight yards away with his right foot to give the Herons a 5-1 advantage. It was his eighth goal in the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs.
