Panthers Outshine Stars

      The Florida Panthers held off the Dallas Stars 4-3 in a shootout at Amerant Bank Arena on Saturday night. The Panthers completed a four-game homestand. The Cats had a four-day break, their longest rest of the season so far.
      Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has a 20-2-2 all-time record against the Stars. The Panthers finished off a four-game homestand with a 2-1-1 record.
      There was no scoring by both clubs during the first frame. Florida(6-5-1) took a 1-0 lead at the 1:48 mark of the second period. Anton Lundell pushed the puck out of his zone and Eetu Luostarinen zipped a cross-ice pass in the neutral zone. Brad Marchand skated to the left-circle dot and released a wrist shot past Casey DeSmith for his sixth goal of the season.
      The Panthers made it 2-0 at 4:02. A Evan Rodrigues shot from the right point hit the left post. Carter Verhaeghe attempted shot from the low left circle went wide. Sam Reinhart snapped a shot from an acute angle on the right goal line and scored his sixth goal of the campaign. It ended up being his 300th NHL goal. He is the sixth active player in the National Hockey League with at least 300 career goals. 
      Dallas(6-3-3) capitalized on a four-minute man advantage with two power-play goals to tie it up 2-2. Wyatt Johnston got a power-play tally with 5:13 to go in the second on a forehand shot from the low left circle. Justin Hryckowian  followed with a score on a redirected shot from the left side of the crease just 14 seconds later. 
       In the third period, the Cats regained the 3-2 with 7:34 remaining. Mackie Samoskevich backhanded a pass in the high slot and Gustav Forsling angled a pass from the left circle. Sam Bennett swept in a backhand shot from the right side of the crease for his second tally in 2025-26. 
       The Stars evened it up 3-3 with 2 :41 left. Mikko Rantanen deflected in a shot from the left side of the crease for his fifth goal this year. 
       After no scoring in overtime, Florida won in the shootout. Brad Marchand scored on their third attempt with a forehand shot.
