Benjamin At Chaminade-Madonna Preview

The Benjamin Buccaneers visit Broward County and face the Chaminade-Madonna Lions in a Class 3A regional final on Friday night. The contest will be played at Calvary Christian in Fort Lauderdale because Vince Zappone Field has no overhead lights and FHSAA would not allow a day game to be played there for the second straight week.
The same situation happened in 2016. The Lions had to play the regional final at Cooper City High School against Oxbridge Academy.
Benjamin(8-2) moved from independent status to the FHSAA in 2017 and it has paid off. The Bucs have won seven of their last eight games. After a recent road loss to Key West, they beat Kings Academy 33-21 in the regular season finale and bashed Everglades Prep 43-6 last week in a regional semifinal. They have outscored their last eight opponents 326-106.
Quarterback Jordan Travis calls the signals for the Buccaneers on offense. He can throw the ball to wide receivers Will Nicklaus, Kai Rosario, Kaiir Elam and Joseph Mariani. They can depend on running backs Addison Matevia, Khani Johns and Santino Marucci on rushes.
Chaminade-Madonna(8-2) enter this game on a seven-game winning streak. The Lions beat Piper, Blanche Ely, Booker T. Washington, Doral Academy, Flanagan in that stretch. They topped University School 33-14 in their season finale and blanked American Heritage 38-0 in a regional semifinal last week. They have outscored their last seven opponents 313-39 and averaged 44 points for and five points against per game.
Running back Shaun Shivers is expected to get the majority of carries from the backfield. Xavier Williams lead the wide receiver core that includes Marlin Mayo, Marvin Alexander and Logan Giordano. Quarterback Daelen Menard looks to connect passes down the field.
