The Kings Academy Lions stay in Palm Beach County and visit Oxbridge Academy in a Class 3A regional semifinal at William H. Pitt Stadium on Friday night. It is unusual that both teams are in a playoff bracket in Region 2 which is mostly represented by Central Florida schools.
Kings Academy(7-1) won their first seven games of the regular season before they lost last week to Benjamin. They have outscored their opponents 329-116 and averaged 41 points per game this season.
Quarterback Justin Wake calls the signals for the Lions offense and will try to connect passes to wide receivers Cory Croteau, Drew Monaco, Ryan Kingman, Jeremiah Scroggins and Isaac Scroggins. Running back Dillon Larson is expected to get most of the carries from the backfield for TKA and follow fullback Presley Almond through the line.
Oxbridge Academy(7-1) currently ride a seven-game winning streak after a season opening loss to Archbishop Wood in Orlando by one point. The Thunderwolves have compiled four shutouts this year and got victories over playoff-bound schools Glades Central and Everglades Prep. They have outscored their opponents 305-39 this season and averaged 38 points per game.
The Thunderwolves are led on offense by quarterback Gio Richardson. Running backs James Meeks and Luis Gonzalez will share duties in carrying the ball beyond the line of scrimmage. They have numerous weapons at the wide receiver position with Keidron Smith, Carlos Silencieux, V'Lique Carter, De' John King and C.J. Smith.
