Panthers Shuffle By Sabres

Roberto Luongo moved into fourth all-time in wins by a goalie as the Florida Panthers stopped the Buffalo Sabres 4-1 at KeyBank Center on Friday night. Luongo broke a tie with Curtis Joseph with his 455th victory and he now stands behind Martin Brodeur, Patrick Roy and former Panthers goalie Ed Belfour in NHL history.
Buffalo(5-9-2) jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 13:02 of the first period. Victor Antipin fired a shot from the blue line and Kyle Okposo was able to tip it in.
Florida(5-8-2), who entered the contest on a five-game winless streak, evened it up 1-1 at 6:52 of the second period. Jonathan Huberdeau passed the puck from behind the Sabres cage and Aleksander Barkov took a one-time shot. It was saved by Robin Lehner and Evgenii Dadonov swept in the rebound from the top of the crease for his seventh goal of the season.
The third period belonged to the Panthers as they stocked up three goals. Ian McCoshen gave the Cats their first lead of the game at the 3:50 mark on a wrist shot from the left point following a drop pass by Huberdeau. Barkov clinched the victory with an open-net goal with 1:32 remaining. Vincent Trocheck followed with another tally with 1:15 left in regulation for his eighth goal of the year.
