Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton was named the National League Most Valuable Player on Thursday. He became the first person in team history to capture that honor.
Stanton led the major leagues with 59 home runs in 2017, which is the most homers by any player since the 2001 season. He also led the National League with 132 RBI and a .631 slugging percentage. He scored 123 runs and batted .281 this season.
