South Florida FHSAA Football Playoffs

    The FHSAA football playoff brackets were released on Sunday. South Florida placed 43 high schools from the three counties.
     There were 13 Palm Beach County schools that made the 2017 FHSAA playoffs with none in Class 5A and Class 6A. South Palm Beach County carried three schools that included Park Vista(8A), Atlantic(8A) and American Heritage(4A). None of the five football programs in Boca Raton made the postseason. North Palm Beach County had Dwyer(7A), Seminole Ridge(8A) and Benjamin(3A).
     The Muck was represented with three teams which consists of Glades Central(4A), Pahokee(1A) and Glades Day(2A). Four schools of central Palm Beach County that included Palm Beach Central(8A), Forest Hill(7A), Oxbridge Academy(3A) and Kings Academy(3A).
     12 schools in Broward County got to the FHSAA playoffs with none in Class 1A and Class 2A. There was only one school from north Broward County and it was Deerfield Beach(8A). Three teams represented south Broward County with Miramar(8A), Chaminade-Madonna(3A) and West Broward(7A).
     There was a load of football programs that were located in central Broward County. They included St. Thomas Aquinas(7A), Cardinal Gibbons(5A), Dillard(6A), Plantation(8A), American Heritage(5A), Western(8A), University School(4A) and Nova(7A).
     Dade County, who had 18 schools, was well represented as they appeared in six classifications except Class 1A and Class 5A. Three schools appeared from south Dade County with Homestead(8A), South Dade(8A) and Everglades Prep(3A).
     The Miami area had many football programs get to the 2017 FHSAA playoffs. Four 6A schools made it from District 16 that included Miami Northwestern, Miami Central, Carol City and Norland. Other teams from other classifications had Columbus(8A), Palmetto(8A), Southridge(8A), Miami(8A), North Miami(8A), Belen Jesuit(8A), South Miami(7A), Mater Academy(7A), Doral Academy(7A), Monsignor Pace(4A) and Champagnat Catholic(2A).
