15 South Florida high schools participated in the third round of the 2017 FHSAA playoffs. Eight teams were victorious last week and will play in their fourth postseason game.
Palm Beach County fell from three schools to two schools. Oxbridge Academy advanced to the Class 3A state championship game and will face Chaminade-Madonna on December 9. Atlantic moved on to the state semifinal game in Class 8A and will host Miami next week. Pahokee lost to Madison County and were eliminated in Class 1A.
Broward County moved down from six schools to three schools. St. Thomas Aquinas will travel to Venice for a Class 7A state semifinal next week. American Heritage got by Cardinal Gibbons and next week they will host Immokalee in Class 5A. Chaminade-Madonna stopped Clearwater Central Catholic and will play Oxbridge Academy in the Class 3A title game. University School and Western lost last week.
Dade County fell from six schools to three schools. Miami Northwestern topped Carol City in Class 6A and will host Naples in a state semifinal next week. Miami was able to upset Columbus in Class 8A. Doral Academy was eliminated by St. Thomas Aquinas in Class 7A while Champagnat Catholic advanced to the Class 2A state title game on December 8.
