Pittsburgh Shocks Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes finished the regular season as they were upset by the Pittburgh Panthers 24-14 at Heinz Field on Friday. The Canes tried to have their first undefeated regular season since 2002.
Pittsburgh(5-7, 3-5) was able to go up 3-0 at 6:50 of the first quarter. Alex Kessman kicked a 46-yard field goal.
In the second quarter, Miami(10-1, 7-1) took a lead 7-3 at the 7:03 mark. Quarterback Malik Rossier found wide receiver Ahmmon Richards on the right sideline for a reception. Richards, a Wellington High School grad, stretched the ball to touch the front right pylon in the end zone for a 23-yard touchdown.
Pitt regained the lead with 35 seconds left in the second. Quarterback Kenny Pickett rolled to his right and scored from six yards away to make it 10-7.
The Panthers extended their margin to 17-7 with 1:47 remaining in the third quarter. Pickett made a shovel pass to running back Qadree Ollison and he ran it in from five yards out.
The Hurricanes gave up another touchdown with 3:03 left in the fourth. Pickett faked a handoff and executed a naked bootleg to the left side for 39 yards and the gap was extended to 24-7.
The Canes scored again as wide receiver Braxton Berrios caught a 39-yard touchdown pass on a fly pattern from Rosier with 2:16 left and made it 24-14.
