Carol City At Miami Northwestern Preview

Two schools from District 16 battle it out as the defending FHSAA Class 6A state championship Carol City Chiefs challenge the Miami Northwestern Bulls at Traz Powell Stadium in a regional final on Friday night. It will be the fourth meeting between both teams in the last two years.
Last year the Bulls won the regular season game and district title, however the Chiefs knocked off the Bulls in a regional semifinal. Miami Northwestern did defeat Carol City 16-7 earlier this season.
Carol City(8-3) have won seven consecutive playoff games on the road in the past two years and that includes the 2016 championship game held in Orlando.  The Chiefs have outscored their opponents 315-65 this season and allowed five points per game. They compiled four straight shutouts and six overall this year. They blanked Dillard 23-0 in a regional quarterfinal and upended Mainland 17-10 last week in a regional semifinal.
The Chiefs have a rushing attack that consists of running backs Camron Davis and Nay'quan Wright. They got Marlon Smith in the quarterback spot and can use wide receiver Legend Moore as a backup. Smith will fire passes to wide receivers Phenol Williams, Treyunn Lane and Moore down the field.
Miami Northwestern(9-2) have put together shutouts in two of their last three games. The Bulls routed Matanzas 33-0 in a regional quarterfinal followed by a 24-18 victory over district rival Miami Central in a regional semifinal last week. They have outscored their opponents 293-95 and allowed eight points per game this year.
The Bulls have quarterback Chatarius Atwell Jr. to dictate the pace on offense. Look for running back Corey Hammett to get the majority of carries from the backfield. Atwell intends to find wide receivers Derrick Davis and Justin Hill for pass completions.
