The Bishop Moore Hornets travel down the Florida Turnpike from Orlando to Plantation and takes on the American Heritage Patriots at Heritage Field on Friday night in a Class 5A regional final. Both schools combined have won the last FHSAA Class 5A state championships. The Patriots would host a state semifinal next week should they win.
Bishop Moore(8-2), who captured the 2015 Class 5A title, only had losses to Jones and Seminole during the regular season. They went on the road and disposed of Fort Pierce Westwood 34-21 last week in a regional semifinal. The Hornets have scored 34 points per game and had a 344-209 scoring margin in 10 games this year. They will mainly execute a rushing attack with running back Trilion Coles getting more of the carries.
American Heritage(9-0) has won their last 23 games and have not lost a game since the 2015 playoffs. Their closest victory during the regular season was against district rival Cardinal Gibbons by four points. The Patriots easily shut out Merritt Island 42-0 in a regional semifinal last week. They have outscored their opponents 321-51 this season and averaged 35 points for along with five points against per game.
The Patriots have numerous weapons all over their offense. Quarterback Cam Smith can connect passes with wide receivers Anthony Schwartz, Joshua Alexander and Tyler March. Their ground game has running backs Jordan Johnson, Miles Jones and Tyler Jones.
