The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders host the Miramar Patriots at Brian Piccolo Stadium on Friday night in a game between two of the top Broward County football programs. Both schools have already qualified for the FHSAA playoffs winning their district titles last week.
Miramar(7-1) wrapped up the District 12 title in Class 8A with a win over Western last week. After losing their season opener to Chaminade-Madonna, they compiled seven consecutive wins. They have outscored their last seven opponents 266 -64.
Deon Jones is at quarterback for the Patriots and can pass the ball. They have running back Quino Mauricette who will get the most rushing attempts. Wide receivers Terrence Horne Jr., Abdul Ibrahim and Marden Sanon look to catch the ball from Jones.
St. Thomas Aquinas(7-1), the three-time defending Class 7A state champions, clinched District 14 with a victory last week at Blanche Ely. They come into this contest on a four-game winning streak following a loss to Centennial in Arizona. STA have outscored their opponents 229-42 this season.
The Raiders have a group of skilled wide receivers with Elijah Moore, Tavares Kelly, Teriq Phillips and Cole Caterbone for quarterback Curt Casteel to connect passes to. Daniel Carter is expected to get the majority of the carries for the team from the backfield.
