24 South Florida schools advanced to the second round of the 2017 FHSAA playoffs. There were 43 representatives heading into the first round.
Palm Beach County went from 13 schools down to seven schools. Dwyer, Park Vista, Palm Beach Central, Oxbridge Academy and Pahokee moved forward. Glades Central, American Heritage, Seminole Ridge and Forest Hill were eliminated.
Broward Country dropped from 12 schools to seven. High seeds Miramar and Deerfield Beach lost while top seeds St. Thomas Aquinas, American Heritage, University School and Chaminade-Madonna advanced.
Dade County fell from 18 schools to 10. Large schools Columbus, Miami Northwestern, Miami Central and Carol City reached the next round. Palmetto, Mater Academy and Norland fell.
